Christmas Party Decoration Themes

from: CTL

Many people use the same Christmas decorations year after year, put in the same places, turned to the same angle. While all of that tradition can be heartwarming, when planning a holiday party, it could be more fun to create a new Christmas party decoration theme. The final decision should reflect your ideas, style, and sense of fun. It never hurts to have a few ideas to point you in the right direction.

When planning Christmas party activities where children will be in attendance, there are some very important do's and don'ts. Try to not use poinsettias in your Christmas party decoration display. When ingested they are hazardous to children and animals. You are looking for your guests to have a good time, not a visit to the emergency room. Glitter and confetti are not good ideas either, especially if the kids are too young to know not to put it in their mouths. Avoiding choking hazards will be much appreciated by the parents.

As far as what to do with your little guests, almost anything else goes. Miniature decorations will be a huge hit with the young crowd. Kids like things that are their size. Consider a cluster of small trees decorated with strung candy and popcorn. Tiny lights would look great on these as well. Cute and fluffy, instead of elegant, is the way to go when entertaining kids.

If your guests are all of legal age to drink, modify your Christmas party decoration theme accordingly. A unique color scheme or fancier ornaments would be well received. Many people stay with the traditional red and green colors. Shake things up a bit and try something new. A beautiful deep wine color with gold accents is an interesting twist on Christmas, as is royal blue with silver. Also never underestimate the elegance of white in Christmas party decoration. It teams well with gold or silver for a rich, elegant look, or with red and green for a more traditional appearance.

Candles are also a nice touch when entertaining adults. If your gathering is informal, many stores carry adorable candles made to look and smell like candy canes. For a more formal holiday party, tapered candles with an understated evergreen or spice scent would be lovely. Whether formal or not, keep decorations related to each other in color or design.

Your choice of Christmas party decoration theme will be the visual glue that holds to party together for your guests. Don't go so far as to overwhelm the senses however. The point of the party is to enjoy pleasant company. Decorate in things that you like and work well for your home. The rest is pure party time.
